Prom Disasters
Learn for others the Prom dos and don't do as they did...read below....
I go to a church school so everything is different from a regular prom. Instead, it's a banquet where we eat and play games and other stuff like that. We also have to have formal dresses that are modest. I was going with a guy that had liked me for 3 years while I was with someone else. We were best friends, and I had finally given him a chance. And he is such a sweetheart! It was my first banquet ever, and I had picked out a beautiful white dress. It was spaghetti straps so I had to wear a shawl over it, which looked great. The only problem was, was that the girl that did my hair and make up couldn't pin on the shawl right. She told me that if anyone said anything to tell them it was her fault. Did I think that was going to happen? Of course not! But sure enough it did. We go through the whole night and everything was going great! My dress looked good on me, my hair and make up turned out perfect, and I was with the perfect date. We left the restaurant and were about to get in the limo, an adult that was there kept helping people in and my date and I kept trying to get in so we wouldn't have to wait for the limo to come back and pick up all the people we didn't hang out with. The adult wouldn't let us on, and the limo left without us. Now we are standing outside waiting for a reason. I was freezing and worried. The man started chewing ME out for my dress that was "not modest" then goes off saying that I was all over my date. (We aren't aloud to do stuff like that). Well, we hadn't done anything that he was saying, but I started crying. I cried all my make up off, I was shaking, and we had to wait at least 30 minutes for the limo. Then we were with all these other people we didn't care about and they're all staring at me because I'm crying. Well, we got back, and my boyfriends dad ended up taking care of the situation. He was furious, and I was glad that the adult got what was coming to him.
Well my boyfriend and I had dated for a little while and he had always been kind of a jerk to me. A week before prom I decided to call it off and tell him we were definitely going as just friends. On prom night, he hardly talked to me at all and acted like he had any fun and then he NEVER complimented me and told me looked good at all ( I mean who does that? I complimented him) and I asked for a hug and kiss goodnight and he wouldn't give me one... I have learned never to go to prom with a total jerk. Read the prom dos list and never do a prom don't.
I went to prom with a friend that I liked. The whole night my friend was all over my date! We had been taking pictures all night long. Well, when the pictures came back, me and my other friends realized my "friend" had been closer to him than I was, in ALL the pictures. Me and all my friends new she liked him. He started going to my school this year. Well, come to find out, this year they started liking each other. Now, me and my "friend" don't even talk.
Before the prom my boyfriend took me to this really nice seafood restaurant, I don't really like seafood but I decided to try some. About half way through the meal I started to feel really sick, I thought nothing of it because we were both really excited about prom. On the ride to the prom in a really nice limo I had started to feel extremely sick again, but ignored it. We got to prom and were all having a really great time dancing when all of the sudden I puked all over my date and to make things worse I was stuck in the bathroom the rest of the night with explosive diarrhea! I was so embarrassed! I had to borrow my friends cell phone to call my mom and have her pick me up. When we got home my mom was looking at my dress funny and I asked her what she was staring at, there ended up being big brown stains on my dress that we couldn't get out! After the prom incident boyfriend broke up with me because he couldn't take all of the teasing that he was getting from his friends and people at school. -Megan K.
My actual prom was great: it was the aftermath that went wrong. There was a group of about 30-40 of us going bowling after prom. It was so much fun. Then they started bowling 2 and 3 balls down the same lane. Another group of people had already gotten kicked out for doing that and so I kept telling the guys to stop, would the listen no. My date is actually on the bowling team so he has this 16 lb. ball and he and his friends are doing all these tricks and stuff. It was the last frame of the last game, I had just bowled. My date comes up right behind be a half second after I released my ball, goes to bowl down my lane, swings the ball back and gets ready to release and......smack, he nails me right in the back of my calf. The pain didn't hit me right away. Slowly it started coming and I hobbled of to the bathroom (who likes to cry in front of people?) and I start bawling, it hurt so bad, I knew he felt horrible and I didn't want him to see me crying. Eventually I come out with a smile on. He's sitting down with his head in his hands. He took me home carrying all my stuff and I'm limping along. We said good night, I grabbed my crutches and hoped in my car (all the girls were going to one house and the guys to another then we were going to met back up in the morning at IHOP). I was not staying home. I went to my friends house and at about 3:00 AM I get this crazy idea. I had to get him back, I mean come on! Since there are so many muscles in your calf my bruise didn't show up for 2 days, but anyway, my friends make-uped a horrible nasty bruise on my leg. I mean black, yellow, purple, blue...it was perfect. We hair sprayed it, ace wrapped it, put me on my crutches and were off to see the guys at IHOP. Not a single one of the guys say a word when I come in on my crutches. My date's just looking down. We talked for a while with everyone, then the girls finally say...."show um the bruise!!!" I put my leg up on the chair and lift up my pajama pants...I still remember the guys faces... it was hilarious. My date just puts his head down. One of the guys jaw just drops. Okay I'd had my fun. I licked my fingers and smeared the bruise. And the light bulb goes on in the guys heads and they'd realized what we'd done. It was so funny getting them. I washed the bruise off. I still had to use the crutches. My mom to me to the doc Monday just to make sure things were okay. They measured my leg my right calf was two inches bigger around than my left. I ended up tearing my plantaris tendon on the back of my leg. This whole thing now is just a hilarious story to tell. I never got made I my date, and even now a year later, he still has not lived it down. They call him kingpin now. We laugh everytime we tell the story. It doesn't get old. I mean come on, how often can you say "my prom date hit me with a bowling ball?"
Last year at my prom I wore this black dress with white satin in the middle of the front. Anyway I was dancing with my date, was horrible by the way, he accidentally hit me in the face. No biggie only that I have my nose pierced and he hit it and it started gushin out blood all over the front of my dress. After I was in the bathroom for awhile and the whole school thought I got into a fight, I said what the heck and started dancing again, not with my date though. -Selina Delp
I was in my aunts wedding 7 months before prom and I kept trying on my dress. I was going to wear my dress to prom, but I didn't try it on 3 months before prom. But I did try it on the day of Prom and it didn't fit anymore. My date was from another school so we didn't talk about things much. My date was supposed to be matching my dress so I tried to borrow my cousins dress, but couldn't get ahold of her. Luckily 2 hrs before prom I got ahold of her and put her dress on at my aunts beauty shop and went home to where my date had spent a half and hour with my parents. My date was from another school so we didn't talk about things much. It turned out his Tux didn't even match my original dress or my cousins dress!!! Then my dad mentioned to me, that while they were sitting there they found out my date was my 4th cousin!!!! Let me just say WE DIDN'T KISS!!!! We also have a huge family this is how we didn't know. So now when my boyfriend talks about his prom from last year and asks me how mine was I just say OK and don't talk more about it, he would probably think I am a freak. My date was also a blabbermouth and told almost everyone there that he knew. Another bad thing was that he knew almost everyone. -Laura Batta
My girlfriends and me were at the prom together because of the shortage of guys at my school. We all had oysters to start and they made us ill and Sarah was sick on herself, and I puked down the side off the table and it ran onto the dance floor. The prom was abandoned because everyone was so sick and we never got to do the final dance. Beware shellfish! -Miriam Goldsmith
It was my junior prom and my friends sister and I had decided to get a limo. We had probably searched for weeks to find the perfect one. We thought we had. Boy were we wrong wrong wrong!! We had to tell the limo driver exactly where to turn and how far to go because she didn't know where she was going even though we sent her a map and ALL of the directions. Then on the way to my friends boyfriends house, the limo caught on fire so we had to pull into a gas station and call the fire department! It was horrifying. The 5 of us were standing there in our prom dresses in the RAIN while we called my friends mom for a ride because they couldn't give us another limo. -Kathleen Nemier
First off, my date canceled on me 3 days in advance so my good guyfriend said he'd go with me, and I bought his ticket. Then the day of Prom he called me during my hair appointment canceling on me. It wasn't a big deal but later he called and said he would meet me at 6 for pictures. He would only go though if we did not go in the limo and we went somewhere else for dinner because of a bad mix with some people in the group. So i spent the rest of the day trying to arrange this hell, then I thought about why the change of heart. Apparently my mom had called his and told her I was bawling about it and that I had been waiting for this day for years, etc. Talk about embarrassing. -Rebecca, Mission Viejo,CA
If you purchase a dress with a train on it, do not for get to get it hooked up if you plan on dancing. Last year’s Military Ball, I had the PERFECT DRESS until I got to the Ball and people were stepping all over it. Not on purpose (I hope) but it’s embarrassing when you have to walk through crowds to get to your table and people are stepping all over your train. My boyfriend has to hold it up when we were slow dancing so he won’t step on it and everyone thought that he was grabbing my butt!!!!! My best friend even took a picture of it!!
When I went to prom this year, my mom rented me this nice Rolls Royce Limo. When the weather was hot and humid the driver forget to put the air conditioning on my hair got messy, frizzy, my makeup was ruined and my date and I got hot and sweaty. After prom when it was cold out the driver also forget to put the heat on and I was shivering because my dress was strapless and I had no jacket on. But I glad I made it home like this. - Melanie Barnett Oshawa Ontario
First-I called my boyfriend the day I got my prom dress and he broke up with over the phone. Second- I got a date 2 weeks before prom but the tux shop had a hard time finding a tux to match my dress on such short notice. Third-My hair turned out looking nothing like it was supposed to. Fourth-the stretch SUV that friends had ordered was not a stretch SUV-it was an extra large suburban-so there wasn't enough room for all of us, so my date volunteered us to take a separate car. Fifth-my mom called while we were on our way to the restaurant to tell me that a good friend of mine had passed away-and that the funeral was that day-so on prom day-in my prom dress-my date in his tux-hair, make-up, flowers-the works-we showed up at the funeral home so I could pay my respects. We got a few looks-Even though he was nice enough to take me to a funeral home the day of his senior prom- I wasn't really in the mood to talk to anyone...not even my date-so he got upset-and we got into a big arguement-he called me the c-word-and a friend of mine punched him in the face so my date had blood all over his tux-it was a terrible night!!!!!!!!Nothing went right. Its OK though-cuz when my little girl goes to her first prom and something goes wrong-i can always remind her of how bad her mommy's went. R.I.P-Shannyn W.
I live in a small town, and my friend and her date decided to get a limo with her dates friends. Well they decided to go to the nearest city for dinner, and the nearest one is 50 miles away. Well needless to say on their way back, they got a flat tire and the driver couldn't change it. They had to call home for a school bus to come get them, they sat in the limo for and 1 1/2, missing most of prom. When they finally got back, they were just in time for the "walk" and the announcement of court and still had to leave on a bus.
fter I arrived at the prom with my date I caught the hem of my dress with my heel. The shoe just caught it then let go so I thought nothing of it. When I removed my coat I realized the slit on the side of my gown that was at my knee had split along the seam to my upper thigh. The dress looked like it was made that way. The fitted dress was very daring now but I thought it would be OK. It was only latter that night my girlfriend told me that you could see that I was not wearing panties under my pantyhose. I was so embarrassed.
I started shopping 5 months before prom in order to get the perfect prom dress. I finally found the dress of my dreams and the day before prom, after carefully ironing my prom dress, my mother hung my dress from our chandelier so it would not get wrinkled. Needless to say, the chandelier got so hot it started my dress on fire! Talk about a nervous wreck trying to find a new prom dress on prom day. Looking on the bright side, the entire house could have burned down instead of just my dress.
My boyfriends ex-girlfriend decided to get even with me by trying to cancel my prom dress order. Luckily the bridal store I purchased if from had a store policy to confirm all cancellations by calling back their customers to verify the actual cancellation. How did I know it was my boyfriends ex? The store had caller ID.
The DAY OF PROM, I put my dress on and was almost ready to go. Then, my dog jumped up as to tell me "Have Fun!" or something and ripped my dress from the knee down. Needless to say, I had to go to prom with a ripped dress, but get this. A girl at my same prom had MY same dress. As if the rip wasn't bad enough, I lost all sense of originality for my senior prom.
I didn't realize that most girls purchase their prom dresses in February and March. Everywhere I went the dresses were sold out, which left me buying a dress that I thought was only okay.
My friend ordered us a party bus instead of a limo. We were all looking forward to the big white bus's arrival (it was supposed to be bringing all of us girls balloon bouquets). To start things off, the bus did not arrive until 45 minutes later than it was supposed to and to our surprise, this little navy blue painted school bus pulled up. It was falling apart!! The door had to be shout with a rope, and it would fly open during our ride. What a disaster!
After the prom a bunch of us couples were getting ready for the after parties, when one of the guys locked his keys in his car, while it was running! We called his dad and waited 3 hours for him to come, he never showed, we finally left the car running where it was and went to only one party because we wasted the whole night trying to break in through this guy's sun roof!
I was trying on my prom dress one day before the prom and the zipper broke. It took me 5 tailors to find one who would fix the dress on the spot for me.
I was at the dance and the zipper on my prom dress broke. Luckily my girlfriend had packed a needle and thread so my friends literally sewed me into my dress (how embarrassing).
I left my dress at my tailors until Prom day so it would not get wrinkled. Big mistake, I went to pick up my dress and the store was closed on Saturdays. I shopped all day (missing my hair appointment) to find another dress that fit just right.
When I had my hair done, I wanted it wavy and the sides pulled back... the stylist had CRIMPED my hair and SLICKED the front back... so it was all slicked in the front and huge and poofy in back. It was terrible...so I just went home, washed it, and redid it myself.
My shoes were too small and it hurt to walk. So while I was trying to walk without putting much pressure on my feet, I tripped over the chair and fell!
An ex "fling" of mine showed up at the after party and ended up kissing me... and my boyfriend walked in and saw it.
My school has a shortage of guys, I waited until all the guys asked someone to prom but non of them asked me. I ended up asking a good friend of mine from college about two weeks before prom. He had no money, so I paid for everything, flowers and all. It was worth it!
I waited until a few weeks before prom to purchase my dress. All of the dresses I wanted were sold out.
My friend and I were 15 minutes late for our hair appointments and they refused to do our hair so we drove around for an hour going to all these different placed to see if they would do our hair. They were all booked up! A total prom disaster!
It was 6:45 and my date was supposed to be there already with the limo he had all picked out for us and the decorating all finished. Well I called him from the house while he was in the limo and to my surprise his ex girlfriend picked up the phone. I asked her what she was doing in the limo and she said she had been making out with my boyfriend and on their way to prom. I was all decked out and ready to go but I didn't let him get to me instead I went with his brother and ended up making out with him when he walked in. To his surprise I had gotten revenge on him and a new boyfriend, his brother.
I borrowed a dress from my friend who is more top heavy than me. It was strapless and I couldn't wear a bra. I was pulling it up every ten minutes. I told some joke and everyone burst out laughing. I thought it wasn't that funny. They kept laughing. Then my date pointed at my chest. I looked down and saw MY BOOBS!!!!!! The dress had slipped down, and I was totally flashing my boobs to the room! I pulled the dress up, and held it up for the rest of the night!
Me and a friend went to Victoria's Secret to buy corsets and while we were getting dressed the padding in her bra flew under the door and out into public!! We were in the same dressing room so we both were trying to reach for it from under the door! We got our corsets, and while the lady was putting them in the bag she leaned and whispered, "Next time just ask for help.
I went shopping for a prom dress 4 months ahead of time so that I had the perfect one. When I bought it they kept the receipt in a notebook to make sure that no one would get my same dress. A few months later I got curious to see if anyone at my school did get my same dress so I went to the store and asked to see the notebook. Sure enough I saw someone in the book that had bought the exact same dress as me. So, I started yelling at the store owner for letting that girl buy it. When Prom came I saw the girl there and all we did was give each other dirty looks all night. I went through all that trouble to make sure everything was perfect and at the very end someone had to look just like me.
I live in a small town. We usually borrow dresses or drive three hours to the nearest mall to search for one. My senior year I borrowed my DREAM DRESS from a friend who had worn it about two years earlier. I got to the prom and was having fun until...one of my good friends walked in with the exact same dress and not even thirty minutes later another girl walked in with the EXACT SAME DRESS!!! In a town as small as mine that wouldn't happen in a million years but needless to say I did have the best night of my life...after a good cry in the bathroom and alot of optimism! My good friend said a few weeks later that she was still bothered by it all but I just smiled and thought, "It was a great night for me!"
First my boyfriend bailed on me two weeks before prom, so I had my brothers girlfriend go with me. When we got to prom, things started out great. Then I got dirty looks from my ex boyfriend all night, just for being at MY prom. Next bad thing to happen, I sat down at my table and picked up my soda, someone had shaken it up and it went ALL OVER ME. Last I called my ride home and they weren't there so my brothers girlfriend and I had to stand out in the cold for an hour waiting for our ride home.
Me and my friend were getting our hair done for the prom, the hairdresser left the dye on too long and when she washed it out clumps of hair were running down the sink, to make matters worse it was the wrong color!instead of blonde streaks they were green!.As we got to the prom it was really hot and stuffy and the dye started dripping down our white prom dresses. As we walked out of the prom I tripped over my dress and my friend fell on top of me,EVERYONE saw and laughed my dress had ripped all the way up,I grabbed it but it got stuck on the door handle and I ended up running away naked. What a prom disaster!
