Scheduling of Prom Events 2003
Isn't it amazing that Prom Events bring lots of business to their prospective cities yet, city officials do not seem to take note of the scheduling conflicts that seem to arise in bigger cities with more than one high school holding their prom event on the same day. Even websites such as www.PromDressShop.com make mention of how in it's hometown of Duluth, Minnesota, three major high schools held their 2002 proms on the same day.
For promers who did not make their hair appointment, limousine rides, tuxedo rental, and restaurant reservations a minimum of two months in advance, this simply means 'tough luck'. A Tux Shop owner, DeBora Bernick stresses, 'we sold out early in our tuxedos and our customers were begging us to take the tuxedo's off of our demo models'.
It's too bad that city officials don't recognize the huge business promers bring to our community. Promers use most of the following services on their prom day: florists, dress retailers, limousine services, restaurants, ball room rentals, tuxedo rentals, jewelers, hair stylists, nails technicians, decoration rentals, band services, invitation and ticket printers, to name a few. When high school's schedule their proms on the same day, many problems arise. Restaurants cannot keep up with timely food preparation. Tuxedo shops run out of tuxedos. Florists work long overtime hours. Limousine companies that only have 3 limousines get three rentals from three schools holding their prom on the same day verses 9 rentals if proms were held on different days.
With the thousands of dollars generated in your community, shouldn't the scheduling of high school proms be more prominent in the school board meetings?
