Prom Dos, Don'ts, and Prom Etiquette:
Prom
Do
use words like please and thank you.
Prom Do use the proper silverware. Usually
you start using the outside fork and work your way in.
Prom Don't use the
wrong bread plate.
Prom Do turn your salad fork upside down on the salad plate
when you are finished.
Prom Do turn your coffee cup upside down if you do
not want any coffee.
Prom Do put your napkin on your lap. Especially to keep
from spilling on your prom dress.
Prom Don't put your napkin on the table
until you are finished eating.
Prom Do place your napkin on the back of your
chair if you are leaving to use the ladies room.
Prom Do wear a wrap or shawl
over a strapless dress.
Prom Don't wear rings over your gloves.
Prom Do
wear your bracelet over your gloves.
Prom Do remove your gloves
during dinner.
Prom Don't remove your gloves at any other time than dinner.
Prom Don't spray hairspray anywhere other than the bathroom.
Prom Do make
all entrances with your date.
Prom Don't walk ahead of or behind your date.
Prom Do wear body
glitter so you sparkle during your grand march.
Prom Do drink eight glasses
of water a day to prevent bloating and flushing out of your system.
Prom Do
follow the head waiter to your table with your date behind you.
Prom Don't
drink and drive.
Prom Do go to prom with a date who will pull out your chair
at dinner.
Prom Don't refresh your lipstick more than one time at the table.
Prom Do reserve using your powder in the ladies room only.
Prom Do reserve
the first and last dance for your date.
Prom Don't forget to tell your date
how handsome he looks.
Prom Do go with the girls to prom if you don't have
a date. Think of it this way, "less stress".
Prom Do dance with
others at your prom dance when asked however, do not abandon your date the entire
night.
Prom Do be on time. Don't keep your nervous prom date waiting.
Prom Do be the first person your date sees when he knocks on the door.

Don't forget your dates boutonniere.
Prom Do wear your best smelling perfume
(but don't O.D. on it)
Prom Don't fish for compliments.
Prom Do accept
compliments with a polite 'thank you' (rather than a I don't think so).

Don't say anything you'll regret in the morning.
Prom Do try on all prom dresses,
prom accessories, and prom make-up at least a week in advance.

Don't leave your date to be with your friends the whole night. He has a
lot of time invested in this night, make it special.

Don't break up with your boyfriend on prom night or prom week!!

Don't make a scene, you'll mess up your make-up from crying.

Do make sure that you thank your date for dinner, IF it was good!

DO EAT YOUR DINNER...remember that the guy paid a lot of money to take
you out to a nice dinner before Prom. He won't think you are a pig. |
